Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. “The fact of Ukraine’s absence at the Eurasian Economic Union can only be compensated by Azerbaijan’s accession to this organization”, said the Director of EvrAzEs Institution Vladimir Lepyokhin, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.

Lepyokhin said Eurasian Economic Union would hardly go forward without Ukraine, adding that the creation of this organization might be possible if a new Novorossiya state is built and joins EvrAzEs: “If such a state is not built, then the development of the Eurasian Economic Union will face a number of difficulties. The absence of Ukraine or Novorossiya can only be compensated by Azerbaijan’s accession to the union. Along with this, if Azerbaijan and Armenia both join the Eurasian Economic Union at the same time, it won’t just mean that the Eurasian Economic Union has reached a new level of integration, but it will also bring about the resolution of the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict and normalization of their relations, as well as political stability in the South Caucasus”.

Western politicians, according to Lepyokhin, perfectly comprehend the importance of the the Caucasus region: “Therefore, they are doing all they can to maintain the tension between Azerbaijan and Armenia and aggravate the situation concerning the Nagorno-Karabakh problem”.
