The deputy minister said that the main issue in the foreign policy is to establish and develop international economic relations: “We have created necessary ground to move ahead the interests of Azerbaijan on the regions. Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the relations with the neighboring countries and has established stable and long-tem cooperation with the neighboring countries. Unlike some countries, we have been able to reach a common agreement with the states of the region. Azerbaijan is a country that is actively being involved in the mutual investment.”
The deputy minister stated that at present, Azerbaijan has intergovernmental commission with 41 countries and it is of great importance for the development of economic cooperation.
Khalaf Khalafov also touched upon the current state of negotiations on the status of the Caspian Sea: “The negotiations are being conducted separately with Turkmenistan and Iran. We hope that basing on mutual neighborhood and friendship we will come to a common agreement on this issue. The current cooperation between the Caspian littoral countries gives ground to say an agreement will be reached.”
