Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. “Azerbaijan is pursuing a policy of diversification of foreign policy and has become an important country ensuring energy security,” said Chairman of Stratfor George Friedman addressing “South Caucasus in a changing world” forum organized by the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
He underlined that Azerbaijan has options to choose: “The country is pursuing a policy of diversification. Perceiving that the world changed, Heydar Aliyev established the policy of the country in this way in the past. If Azerbaijan wants to see itself as a part of Europe, it should firstly determine which Europe it wants to be part of. Europe is not the one that once existed. Europe is weakening and Russia is taking an opportunity. The reason for Europe’s weakness is the lack of common foreign policy. Europe doesn’t have unified foreign policy. For example, today France is ready to attack Syria, while Germany is not ready to do it.”
