Cemil Ã‡iÃ§ek: â€˜Creating a common language and alphabet is one of the most important issues for usâ€™

Mayis Alizadeh – APA. “One of the most vital steps of the unity and cooperation of the Turkic republics is the parliamentary solidarity among the fraternal countries, and that is called TURKPA. Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan are the members of this organization. Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, however, have not yet joined this organization despite our efforts. It causes us great regret. We hope these countries, in the near future, will join the TURKPA as a full-fledged member or observer, and this in turn will give us power”, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Cemil Çiçek stated in an interview with APA on the eve of the 5th TURKPA Plenary Session to be held in Baku on June 12-13.

Cemil Çiçek said parliamentary cooperation among Turkic countries is not enough to bring the relations up to the highest level: “There are needs for a broad cooperation in the political, economic, and social fields. I’m pleased to see that rulers of the Turkic states, especially Mr Presidents and parliamentary speakers possess a strong will to continue this union. Meetings systemically held each year also prove it. The meetings focus on regional and bilateral issues. The decisions made at these meetings should be performed as soon as possible. Turkey is doing its best in this regard.

Cemil Çiçek stated that creating a common language and alphabet is one of the most important issues for us. So we will understand each other better: “Communicating at meetings in their own language, we will understand each other better, contribute to the development of culture and create opportunities to enrich the language. For this, there are several organizations, especially TURKSOY. We need to support these organizations. Of course, we should also support the solidarity between the non-governmental organizations of the member states. In terms of our history and culture, a common language and alphabet is a key factor in this matter. If we can not to realize this issue, our attempts will fail. Turkey is ready to take necessary steps and provide support in these issues”.
