The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has a longstanding partnership with the government of Azerbaijan, said USAID Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia Brock Bierman, who is on a visit to Baku, APA reports.
He said that over the last years there have been obstacles to USAID work in Azerbaijan.
“In frank meetings with the Azerbaijani government that I had during my visit, I said that we expected these obstacles to be removed. Unfortunately, we have lost an opportunity to move ahead,” Bierman noted.
The USAID official said that he had an opportunity to meet with a number of ministries this week.
“During all these meetings, we mostly discussed issues of taxation and registration. We request from Azerbaijani government to resolve the taxation issues and the issue of registration of our partners,” he added.
