Azerbaijani President addresses CICA summit in Shanghai

APA reports that the summit started with the welcome ceremony for the heads of state and government in Shanghai Expo Center.

President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping welcomed President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as well as other heads of state and government. They had their photos taken.

Following this, the first meeting of the 4th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia was held. Chinese President Xi Jinping underlined the importance of ensuring security in the world and noted that it is possible through dialogue and multilateral cooperation. He said that regional and international cooperation should be the main part of the policy pursued by the participating countries.

Jinping noted that Turkey's chairmanship at the conference was successful, very important decisions were adopted, Qatar and Bangladesh became full members of the CICA. He said that the summit is focused on the international security issues in the region and around the world.
