The Foreign Ministry’s press service told APA that the named persons have been arrested on charges of law violations like tax evasion and illegal ownership and the court has proved their crimes: “The court’s decision is not related to these persons’ political activities, and generally no one in Azerbaijan is persecuted for their political views and activities”.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry calls the UK Office on Foreign Affairs and Unity Issues to avoid unnecessarily interfering in Azerbaijan’s domestic affairs and rather pay attention to human rights affairs in their own country.
