Baku – APA. Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany has issued a statement on the illegal visit of the member of the Federal Republic of Germany's Bundestag Jürgen Klimke to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
The statement sent to APA by the Embassy says that member of the German Bundestag from Christian-Democratic Union / Christian Social Union (CDU / CSU) Jürgen Klimke illegally visited the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan without the consent of the country after having visited Armenia and held meetings with the representatives of the separatist regime on September 12: “His illegal visit to the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a subversive act against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. Our Embassy in Germany has sent a letter of protest to Klimke in this regard and asked him to give an explanation about his illegal visit. Moreover, the Embassy appealed to the CDU / CSU faction of the Bundestag to report on the issue.”
The embassy said that the position of BDR on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is clear. According to this position, the BDR government recognizes neither the so-called regime in the territories of Azerbaijan Republic, nor its representatives. Philipp Mißfelder, member of the Bundestag and the Spokesperson for the CDU/CSU on foreign policy, has sent a relevant letter to Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Germany Parviz Shahbazov regarding Jürgen Klimke’s illegal visit to the occupied territories and expressed attitude on the behalf of CDU/CSU faction. In his letter, he expressed his regret over Klimke’s visit, regarded the visit of the CDU/CSU member as a false step and stressed that he set the wrong signal. Philipp Mißfelder said it would be a right step, if Klimke criticized the occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories by Armenia and paid attention to the recognition of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity by the international law. He stated that it is the personal visit of Klimke, has nothing to do with CDU/CSU faction and is not being supported. Mißfelder also noted that CDU/CSU faction has always supported the position of BDR on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict with a number of press releases and position papers. This position demands the fulfillment of the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council. Unfortunately, these resolutions have not been fulfilled up to now.
