Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. “The informal meeting of the foreign ministers of Eastern Partnership member states in Armenia was useful for us,” Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev told journalists, APA reports. He said that this meeting was the last before the upcoming summit in Vilnius in late November and focused on the activities carried out within the framework of the program and expectations from the upcoming summit: “Of course, Azerbaijan expressed its position. We consider that on the eve and during the Vilnius summit, a number of documents, including the initialed agreement on visa facilitation and readmission can be signed.”

Mammadguliyev said that Azerbaijan and the European Union are going to sign an agreement on cooperation in the fields of transport, agriculture, education, democracy and human rights. Several protocols on enhancing bilateral cooperation will be signed.

The deputy minister noted that one of the main topics of Yerevan meeting was Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union: “The EU expressed its discontent in this regard. The association and free trade agreement was planned to be signed at Vilnius summit, but this decision of Armenia has made it impossible. The EU announced that it would review the format in which it could cooperate with Armenia.”

Mammadguliyev also attended the meeting of education ministers of Eastern Partnership member states in Armenia.
