Mag. Axel Wech studied Law at University of Graz, Austria. Joining Austrian Foreign Services since 1996, Mag. Axel Wech worked in the Ministry of European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria in 1996-1998 and as an Attaché at the Austrian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium in 1998–1999. Continuing his diplomatic activity at the Austrian Foreign Ministry again in 1999–2000, the diplomat was assigned to the Austrian Embassy in New Delhi in 2000–2003, worked as Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil in 2003–2006. Since 2010, he has been assigned as an Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
