No mutual confidence, construction of communal lines, establishment of infrastructure, society and etc. is possible unless Armenia liberates Azerbaijani lands, said the Deputy Minister of Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs Araz Azimov at the 86th Rose Roth seminar of the NATO PA on “South Caucasus: Challenges and Opportunities” held in Baku. He expressed position of official Baku that Azerbaijan supports “stage-by-stage” settlement of the conflict.
The deputy Minister noted that international community demonstrated a great brave on Ukraine crisis: “However, we have also expected same brave for 20 years. Unfortunately, no brave has been demonstrated on Nagorno Karabakh. We expect more serious position on loyalty to the principle of territorial integrity. Armenia protested against Ukraine’s territorial integrity. We also witnessed that Serzh Sargsyan approached annexation of Crimea to Russia positively. Don’t you see it?”
Azimov also touched upon the issue on Lachin corridor: “The talks are usually about importance of ensuring surface corridor between Azerbaijan and Armenia. However, not one speaks about provision of corridor between Azerbaijan an d Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic”.
The deputy minister also noted that we are concerned about evacuation of Armenians from Syria and Libya to Azerbaijan’s occupied territories: “If you will give these land to us, why do you create artificial tension? If the regions surrounding Nagorno Karabakh have not been adopted accepted as the lands that Armenia claims, why Armeni attempts to change the situation there and increase the tension?”
