Chairperson of the PACE Anne Brasseur said this at today’s press conference responding to the APA correspondent’s question, “Cristopher Strasser, who was appointed the rapporteur for Azerbaijan by the PACE, wasn’t provided with a visa, either. However, that time the PACE bureau didn’t make any resolution in this regard. Why was a decision taken on not issuing a visa for René Rouquet who had visited Azerbaijan’s occupied territories without permission?
Brasseur said the difference between these two issues is not to issue a visa for Strasser in general and to abolish the visa issued for Rouquet.
The PACE President said according to international agreements and the Paris Protocol, the organization members’ comings and goings rights must be ensured at all meetings held in the member countries of the PACE: “And the rule which is applied in case this right isn’t ensured is related to renouncing to hold meetings in those countries for a period of two years. This is not applied against only Azerbaijan. The same rule will be applied if such a case occurs in other countries”.
