APA reports that the Convention, signed in Rome on November 1, 1950, entered into force on September 3, 1953.
The ECHR Chairman Dean Spielmann, said that the document laid the foundation of a democratic Europe and contributed to peace and freedom. The ECHR has issued about 16 500 decisions within 60 years.
Azerbaijan ratified the European Convention on Human Rights in 2002. Last year, the ECHR considered 731 appeals from Azerbaijan. 694 of them were rejected, decisions were passed on 17 of them.
