Joint efforts are essential in combating disinformation, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said in response to a question from a Pakistani representative at a special session on "The Language of Peace and Combating Disinformation" held within the framework of the "Baku Culture and Media Dialogue Platform," APA reports.
The Presidential Aide stated that journalists from different parts of the world can, in many cases, become targets or carriers of disinformation campaigns.

Traditional international media outlets cannot fully integrate into local cultures, and certain stereotypes emerge. It is important to unite efforts thanks to the common values shared by countries within the Global South. The main goal is to jointly combat disinformation and eliminate biased stereotypes directed against countries."
He noted that disinformation campaigns produce people who have lost their sense of identity and historical memory:
"Such people erase people's memories and create virtual realities. It is our culture and our family that make us human. However, these campaigns are directed precisely against this and serve to produce such people."
