On September 4, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Azerbaijan Louise Morsing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
The Ambassador presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic activities. The importance of the Ambassador’s activities in terms of developing the existing relations between Azerbaijan and Sweden was noted.
During the meeting, the current state and prospects for the development of Azerbaijan-Sweden bilateral relations, including prospects for political dialogue, economic and trade relations, cooperation in the humanitarian and educational fields, as well as regional issues, were discussed.
It was emphasized that holding regular political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries contributes to the further development of the bilateral agenda. In this regard, the importance of continuing mutual visits and high-level contacts was noted.
An exchange of views was held on regional security issues. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about Azerbaijan’s efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region, the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as new opportunities for cooperation in the region.
The meeting also discussed Azerbaijan-European Union cooperation, regional connectivity, energy security, and other international issues of mutual interest.
Ambassador Louise Morsing stated that she would spare no effort to further develop relations between Azerbaijan and Sweden.
