"The visit of David Babayan to the United States, who presents himself as the "foreign minister" of the so-called "Nagorno Karabakh Republic," demonstrates that Washington once again acts on double standards," Former Foreign Minister Tofig Zulfugarov told APA.
The former foreign minister said that this is not the first time that Armenians have tried such actions: "There are also so-called institutions in Abkhazia, Ossetia, the Transnistria region, Luhansk, and Donetsk. As a principle, these so-called institutions should not be recognized, and the visits of their "officials" should be considered unacceptable. Since it is impossible to separate separatists and terrorists into two parts, saying that one is good and one is bad. It is a manifestation of double standards and injustice. Creating conditions for David Babayan's visit to the United States is another manifestation of double standards. Moreover, the warm attitude of the current US administration towards Armenians is not a secret. Notably, we should also take the fact into consideration that there will be elections for the US Congress. In this regard, the US administration provides such services for Armenians and wants to get the votes of Armenians in the US in the elections. In fact, the best attitude to such cases is to ignore them."
Tofig Zulfugarov, considers the appointment of the co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk group, which has already been history, as one of the manifestations of double standards. He said noted that our army is already on the Azerbaijan-Armenia border: "Azerbaijan resolved the issue of territorial integrity. Someone may call himself as he wants during the visit to the United States. But it is insignificant how he presents himself if we do not recognize him, it's just a show."
The former foreign minister also said that the United States considered it normal to make certain decisions in Congress with the help of lobbies, that is, money, and it is approved as a system: "It is possible to meet him or another person, someone who asserts himself in any way, a provocateur with any congressman in Congress through the money of any company, or lobbying company. Armenians also benefit from this system. Unfortunately, this system is not criticized in many cases in the United States. It is unfortunate that this system is built on a financial basis. I would like to mention one point in this aspect. Once there was a campaign by Armenians against Azerbaijan. It was reported that Azerbaijan spent money on lobbying. Even in Azerbaijan, some criticized it. People who did not know the political realities were scabbed by Armenians and participated in this campaign by various means. Now David Babayan's visit to the USA is also a visit made by Armenians through money and lobbying. Why don't those people in Azerbaijan criticize this?!"
