Washington believes that both Russia and Ukraine are interested in finding a way to resolve the conflict, Jared Kushner said, APA reports.
Kushner made the remarks while addressing the Yalta European Strategy conference in Kyiv via video link.
“We are committed to trying to find a path forward. President Donald Trump is committed to it, Steve Witkoff and I are committed to it. Based on what we have seen, President Zelenskyy is committed to it as well. Based on what we have heard, President Putin is also committed to it. We need to find the right formula that will satisfy everyone and allow us to move forward,” Kushner said.
According to him, two key factors are necessary to achieve peace and other political agreements: carrying out detailed preparatory work on the agreement and making proper use of the right moment to conclude it.
“First, you need to hold detailed consultations with the parties, develop an understanding of what the agreement will look like, and then create or find the right conditions to achieve it,” Kushner stated.
He noted that if the right moment arises before the parties have completed all the necessary preparatory work, reaching an agreement will not be possible.
“If you do all the work but cannot create the necessary momentum, you still will not be able to bring the process to a conclusion,” Kushner added.
