Historical justice requires that the views of the Global South be listened to with respect, reflected fairly, and duly taken into account in shaping our common future, said Aygun Aliyeva, Chairperson of the Board of the NGO Agency, during her speech at the first General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform (GSNP).
“Throughout history, Azerbaijan has not only been a place where roads intersect, but also a meeting point of peoples, cultures, and destinies. Today, Baku continues this historic mission by serving as a platform for global dialogue and cooperation. In just a few days, our country will host WUF13. It is particularly gratifying that the NGO Agency is represented in the Organizing Committee and that the General Assembly of our partner platform, the Global South NGO Platform, is being held within the framework of Baku Urban Week. This is a clear indication that civil society organizations are increasingly being recognized as more important partners in shaping the international agenda. At the same time, for the first time in the history of the World Urban Forum, Global South NGOs jointly applied for a unified pavilion, and a special pavilion space has been allocated to them by the UN,” she said.
