Benita Ferrero Waldner: â€œAzerbaijan is an important country for the European Union in the South Caucasusâ€

She will submit the EU proposals on the Eastern Partnership to Azerbaijan, APA reports. Benita Ferrero Waldner told journalists the proposals would promote extension of EU-Azerbaijan cooperation in the political, economic, social and commercial fields. â€œOne of the proposals relates to easing of visa procedures on the basis of read-mission agreement. Azerbaijan is an important country for the European Union in the South Caucasus. The South Caucasus is our neighbor and we intend to make relations closer. Azerbaijani economy is developing, but there are some issues waiting for their solution. I consider the economic development existed in the fields of energy and trade will show its impact on the fields of fair elections, human rights and freedom of press. These are the main values for the European Union and the areas where we look forward to see developmentâ€.
