Representatives of Azerbaijani NGOs to visit South Ossetia

Baku. Elnur Mammadli â€“ APA. Members of Azerbaijan National Committee for European Integration were in Georgia from August 28 till September 2, APA reports. President of Public Forum for Azerbaijan Eldar Namazov told the press conference today that the aim of the visit was to deliver Azerbaijanâ€™s moral support to Georgians, study the situation in Georgia and draw conclusion on possible threat for Azerbaijan in future.

Members of the committee visited conflict zone in Georgia, Gori city, met with refugees and participated in the solidarity rally in Tbilisi on September 1. They also met with government representatives, opposition parties and representatives of NGOs.

Head of Azerbaijan bureau of Helsinki Citizens Assembly Arzu Abdullayeva said Georgian society was anxious and did not fully realize the situation. She said they had visited refugee camps and noted that about 150,000 refugees were in need of aid.
Other member of the committee Evez Hasanov said they had discussions on exchanging captives and noted that the representatives of Azerbaijani NGOs would visit South Ossetia.
