Khalaf Khalafov: “Project on security cooperation in Caspian does not cover military political cooperation and military political security”

Baku. Tamara Grigoriyeva–APA. The assembly commenced by Working Group of Caspian littoral states on legal status of the Caspian Sea will debate coordination of draft convention on Caspian legal status today, Khalaf Khalafov, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister said, APA reports.
Khalafov noted that there were several opened questions on draft convention and the work on it was underway.
“Azerbaijan has been commissioned to prepare the project on security cooperation in the Caspian Sea during Tehran Summit of heads of Caspian littoral states. We will issue on this project and conduct complex discussions at the meeting”, he said.
To him, the project on security cooperation in the Caspian Sea covers cooperation of border and customs services and interior bodies, but not envisages military political cooperation and security. He added that position of any country was not reflected in the project and other issues on the Caspian Sea would be debated during the assembly.
As regards Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations, Khalafov stated that negotiations were conducted with official Ashgabat.
“Our Working Groups continue their issues. We take steps to solve uncoordinated questions”, he said.
The Minister touched upon the regulation of positions on Iran and stressed that there occurred negotiations format on it and the work was underway within the format.
