Lachin Sultanova–APA. “Azerbaijan recognizes the Georgia’s territorial integrity synonymouslyâ€, Press Secretary of Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Khazar Ibrahim said commenting the fact of recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia’s independence by the Russia’s Council of Federation, APA reports.
Russian Council of Federation called on President Dmitriy Medvedev to recognize Abkhazian and South Ossetian independence. According to APA, Chairman of the Council of Federation Sergei Mironov read the address supported by all members at the Council’s meeting on Monday. Mironov said recognition of independence was a necessary step toward security of these peoples. “We should support desire of the peoples of both republics for stability, peace and independence. Both republics have all attributes necessary for the independent statesâ€.
