Employees of Azerbaijani consulate general in Tabriz met with Azerbaijani poets imprisoned in Iran

Baku. Victoria Dementieva â€“ APA. Employees of Azerbaijani consulate general in Tabriz met with Azerbaijani poets Fardi Huseyn and Shahriyar Hajizadeh imprisoned in Iran, Spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev told APA.

The meeting took place in the Central Correctional Facility in Tabriz: â€œAccording to information, they are accused of arrival in Iran without permission. The Azerbaijani citizens told consulateâ€™s employees that they were invited to festival in Iran and arrived to attend itâ€.

For your information, Azerbaijani citizens can visit Iran without visa.

Abdullayev said that the consulate general will render a legal support to the Azerbaijan citizens detained in Iran: â€œThe Central Correctional Facility is not a permanent place of confinement of the Azerbaijani citizens. They said that at first they were confined separately for 20 days, then togetherâ€.

Abdullayev added that the meeting of Farid Huseyn and Shahriyar Hajizadeh with their parents was agreed with the Iranian side. Today their parents will leave for Iran: â€œIt is supposed that this meeting can be held tomorrowâ€.
