Azerbaijani FM visits Colombia

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA that Elmar Mammadyarov met with Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar on July 24.

Greeting the delegation led by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov Mrs. Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar highly estimated this visit and underlined its importance. Mrs. Maria Cuellar said that the Colombian trade mission was satisfied with visit to Azerbaijan in October, 2011. She said that there is a wide potential between the two countries for developing cooperation in trade, agriculture and energy spheres and expressed her confidence that current highest relations in political sphere will create useful base for the other spheres.

Expressing his gratitude for invitation and hospitability, Mammadyarov gave brief information about Azerbaijan and said that Azerbaijan is interested in strengthening of relations with Latin American countries. The Minister presented the letter of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, which was sent to the Colombian President, to his counterpart. Mammadyarov said that the President of Azerbaijan invited the Colombian President to Azerbaijan. He also underlined the importance of extension of contractual basis between the two countries, including exemption from double taxation and signing of agreements in mutual popularization and protection investments.

The settlement ways of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, cooperation opportunities within the UN Security Council, as well as development ways of bilateral cooperation in humanitarian, educational and sport spheres were discussed at the meeting.
