Elman Abdullayev: “No Azerbaijani citizens are left in Syria, our embassy in Damascus continues working in a normal regime”

He said that Azerbaijan supports Kofi Annan’s plan on solution of Syria problem: “Azerbaijan is deeply concerned about serious incidents occurred in Syria and calls the sides to avoid bloodshed”.

Abdullayev said that all students getting education in Syria have already returned and no Azerbaijani citizens are left in that country. According to him, Azerbaijani embassy in Damask is working in a normal regime”.

“Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs watches the situation, maintains constant contact with our embassy and is kept informed about the developments”

Note that Syria’s defense minister General Daoud Rajha, deputy defense minister Asef Shawkat (brother-in-law of President Bashar al-Assad) and former defense minister Mohammed Turkman were killed and Syrian Interior Minister Ibrahim Al Saar and Head of Syrian National Security Council Hisham Bekhtyar were wounded during the terrorist act on the National Security headquarters in Damascus. Minister of Internal Affairs and the Head of Syrian National Security Council were seriously wounded as a result of blast. Syrian Liberation Army and Liva al-Islam organization took responsibility for the terrorist.
