Azerbaijani President receives delegation led by Vice-Speaker of Mexican Senate

Baku – APA. On July 11, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by Vice-Speaker of the Mexican Senate Francisco Arroyo Vieyra, APA report. Vieyra noted that Mexico was one of the first countries that recognized Azerbaijan’s independence and expressed satisfaction with the successful development of diplomatic relations between the countries.

He noted the significance of cultural and humanitarian projects implemented in Mexico with the assistance of Azerbaijani government. Francisco Arroyo Vieyra said that a monument to Heydar Aliyev was erected in Mexico and said that the monument reflecting Azerbaijan-Mexico friendship and monument to Khojaly genocide would be erected at one of the squares in Mexico.

He underlined the existence of better opportunities for extending cooperation in economic sphere, noted that his country supported the peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

The Head of State highly assessed Vieyra’s visit and expressed hope that this visit would contribute to the further development of Azerbaijan-Mexico relations. President underlined that Azerbaijan attach great importance to the extension of relations with Mexico and expressed confidence in further strengthening of these relations. The Head of State highly assessed the Mexican Senate’s adoption of decision to recognize the Khojaly tragedy as genocide and expressed gratitude for it.

They underlined the existence of good opportunities on further extension of political, economic, trade, cultural, humanitarian and inter-parliamentary cooperation spheres.
