APA reports quoting Turkmenistan’s state agency that the statement released by this country’s Foreign Ministry says that Azerbaijan was repeatedly sent official diplomatic notes concerning this country’s illegal unilateral activity in the Caspian Sea (the question is illegal production implemented in “Omar” and “Osman” fields and unauthorized demands to “Sardar” field).

“Turkmen side announced its readiness to continue negotiations process on the above-mentioned issue and noted that in case of impossibility to achieve the bilateral agreement, Turkmenistan reserves the right to go to the international courts and arbitration tribunals. Besides, on August 4, 2009, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry published Turkmenistan’s official position on delimitation of the Caspian Sea’s depth and subsoil riches, which noted the expediency of applying to the international court. In view of the foregoing, the Turkmen side expresses its astonishment at the opinions of the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister”.

Yesterday Elmar Mammadyarov told journalists that Turkmenistan hasn’t addressed yet the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry that it is going to apply to the International court concerning the Kapaz field. He said that the negotiations continued on legal status of the Caspian Sea: “The negotiations continue, the issues with three countries were coordinated. I think that we will be able to coordinate these issues with Turkmenistan and Iran on the basis of the same mechanisms”.
