Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: â€œWe hope that the steps, which will be taken by Iranian administration concerning Azerbaijani poets, will correspond to spirit of mutual friendly relationsâ€.

â€œThis appeal shows once again that the society is concerned seriously about the situation. We hope that the steps, which will be taken by Iranian administration on this matter, will correspond to spirit of mutual friendly relations between the two neighboring countriesâ€.

Secretary of the Association of Writers of Azerbaijan Chingiz Abdullayev addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, the foreign ministries of other countries, representatives of diplomatic corps and PEN clubs in foreign countries on the young poets Farid Huseyn and Shahriyar Del Gerani (Hajizadeh). According to appeal, the illegal acts against two Azerbaijani poets in Iran are a fragrant violation of fundamental principles of the international legal norms and human rights.

According to Iranian media outlets, The poets were arrested because of spying. But Iranian Foreign Ministry hasnâ€™t still informed Baku about the reasons of arrest of the Azerbaijani citizens.
