EU president: â€œIt is impossible to achieve peace without confidence between the sidesâ€

Baku. Victoria Dementieva â€“ APA. â€œThe European Union will continue its efforts to assist the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Many plans can not be implemented until the stability would create in the regionâ€, said EU president Herman Van Rompuy in his speech at the Azerbaijan University of Languages. Rompuy said that he is concerned on the incidents occurred in the contact lines and called the two sides to observe ceasefire and avoid the escalation of the conflict: â€œWe completely support the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group. Besides it, the EU can give additional support for establishment of confidence environment between the sides. It will be never achieved peace without confidence between the sides.â€

Van Rompuy noted that it needs time for the settlement of the conflict: â€œIt is impossible to build house within a day, it is also impossible to settle conflict or establish democracy within a day. Azerbaijan is going to end the construction of house and the EU continues its support in this issue.â€
