Elman Abdullayev: â€œThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not received any information on the results of the Azerbaijani citizensâ€™ arrest in Iranâ€

Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elman Abdullayev commented on information of the Iranian channel â€œPress TVâ€ that our citizens are accused of spying and trying to involve Iranians in cooperation.

Elman Abdullayev said that that such reports replicated by the Iranian mass medias directed to confuse the public and create a negative atmosphere: â€œDissemination of such information is an unhealthy approach to such sensitive issues.â€ He noted that as stated the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the representatives of our diplomatic mission the reports, which were given by the ministry, must be considered correctly.

The Iranian channel "Press TV" spread information that Azerbaijani citizens Shahriyar Hajizadeh and Farid Huseyn were arrested in Tehran in May, 2012: â€œBoth the citizens arrived in Iran at the direction of the Intelligence Service of Azerbaijan. They had to involve a number of separatists to rely on them in the anti-Iranian activity. The channel notes that the both Azerbaijani citizens have managed to obtain information and pictures of objects of strategic importance.â€
