President of European Council Herman Van Rompuy starts visit to the South Caucasus region

APA reports quoting the press service of the European Council, Van Rompuy will arrive in Yerevan today. His visit program includes meetings with President Serzh Sargsyan and Speaker of the Parliament Hovik Abrahamyan. Then he will deliver a speech in Armenian parliament.

After Armenia he will visit Georgia and meet with President Mikheil Saakashvili and Speaker of the Parliament David Bakradze.

Van Rompuy will visit Azerbaijan on July 5. His visit program includes meetings with President Ilham Aliyev, Speaker of the Parliament Ogtay Asadov. He will deliver a speech in front of the students and teacher staff of the Azerbaijan University of Languages and will be awarded with Doctor Honoris Causa of the university.

Azerbaijan-EU relations, development of bilateral cooperation, settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict will be discussed during his visit to Azerbaijan.
