Eynulla Fatullayev: â€œThe reports about presence of names of 90 political prisoners in Christopher Strasserâ€™s report on political prisoners in Azerbaijan are incorrectâ€

He said that he contacted with PACE: â€œI was told that there are names of about 50 persons in the list. The list that was spread by the press earlier had a basic character, because that list includes the names of released persons. The names of these persons will be excluded from list. The names of 8 persons, detained during Public Chamberâ€™s rallies last year and released by the last pardon order issued by President Ilham Aliyev, must be also excluded from the listâ€.

Fatullayev said that Strasserâ€™s declaration was consisting of his suppositions and assumptions: â€œPACE didnâ€™t adopt any resolution about existence of 90 political prisoners in Azerbaijan. Strasserâ€™s declaration consists of his suppositions and assumptions. That declaration will be discussed in the Assemblyâ€™s autumn session in October. I also note that the Assemblyâ€™s decisions have a recommendation character. The list is entitled not as â€œpolitical prisonersâ€, but â€œsupposed political prisonersâ€.
