Ambassador: â€œAzerbaijan is an important partner of NATO and it is up to Azerbaijan to decide on the level to which would like to deepen this partnershipâ€

NATO appreciates Azerbaijanâ€™s contribution to ISAF as a demonstration of true partnership and good will of the authorities in Baku to continue practical cooperation with NATOâ€, Romanian ambassador to Azerbaijan Daniel Christian Ciobanu told APA. In this regard, I would like to underline here the Azerbaijani role in ensuring a transit route for cargo goods to NATO-led ISAF mission from Afghanistan: â€œNATO supports an increased practical cooperation with Azerbaijan, being interested to continue cooperation with Azerbaijan in areas of mutual interest as fight against terrorism and securing Afghanistan. Energy and cyber security represent new areas in which both NATO and Azerbaijan have shown interest. Azerbaijan remains an important partner of NATO and it is up to Azerbaijan to decide on the level to which would like to deepen this partnership.â€

The ambassador said that Romania is ready to share its experience as a NATO country with Azerbaijan: â€œRomania can share its experience as a member of NATO and the European Union. We could provide good examples of how the preparation for integration in the Euro-Atlantic organization provided coherence to the implementation of the internal reforms, which were useful and necessary and have consolidated democracy and the rule of law in our country.â€
