PACE co-rapporteurs to submit report of Azerbaijan on commitments to Council of Europe by end of this year - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. Co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) plan to submit a report on Azerbaijan by end of this year, said the co-rapporteurs Joseph Debono Grech and Pedro Agramunt at the press conference dedicated to the results of their visit to Azerbaijan.

Pedro Agramut said that the co-rapporteurs met with head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov, Chairman of the Supreme Court, leaders of the political parties not represented in the Azerbaijani parliament, representatives of the civil society, mass medias and religious denominations. The co-rapporteur said that they discussed freedom of religion and conscience at the meeting with the representative of religious denominations: “There is no problem in this sphere in Azerbaijan.”

Pedro Agramut said that they held interesting meetings in the Azerbaijani parliament and discussions on implementation of commitments to the Council of Europe.

Responding questions of the journalists Pedro Agramunt said that Ogtay Gulaliyev has been released today morning and the co-rapporteurs held meeting with him: “We has today got information on the detention of photo reporter Mehman Huseynov on June 12. We were told 15 minutes ago that he will be also released.”

Pedro Agramunt said that, the visit to Azerbaijan aims to support the implementation of commitments to the Council of Europe.

The co-rapporteurs arrived in Baku on June 12. Joseph Debono Grech and Pedro Agramunt will visit Guba tomorrow and meet with local authorities.
