PACE co-rapporteurs meet with political parties’ leaders

The parliament’s press service told APA that the delegation held a meeting with the leaders of political parties represented in the Azerbaijani parliament. YAP Deputy Executive Secretary Mubariz Gurbanli introduced the representatives of 11 political parties to the guests. He said that Azerbaijan joined several international conventions and prefers the European values in law-making processes.

Then the leaders of the other political parties shared their opinions at the meeting. Chairman of Umid (Hope) Party Igbal Aghazadeh, Chairman of Whole Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Gudrat Hasanguliyev, Chairman of Social Welfare Party Khanhuseyn Kazimli and Chairman of Democratic Reforms Party Asim Mollazadeh spoke about the several issues interested the guests.

The co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee were informed about the realities of Azerbaijan and the current state of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. They said that recently Armenian army constantly violated ceasefire on the frontline and there were killed and wounded among the Azerbaijani soldiers.

Azerbaijani parliamentarians called PACE to end onlooking position and take active and fair stand in the settlement of this conflict. They also noted the importance of sanctions against aggressor Armenia.

Co-rapporteur of the PACE Monitoring Committee Pedro Agramunt Font de Mora commented on the opinions voiced during the meeting.
