Baku hosts international conference on “Azerbaijan and NATO Partnership after NATO Chicago Summit: New perspectives for cooperation” - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

APA reports that the conference is organized by the Embassy of Romania, in its capacity of NATO Contact Point Embassy to the Republic of Azerbaijan, in cooperation with Human Rights Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. Director of Human Rights Institute Ayten Mustafayeva characterized NATO as an organization ensuring the stability and security. She said that Azerbaijan was ready for negotiations concerning the Nagorno Karabakh conflict: “Azerbaijan is ready for co-existence with the Armenian community, but Armenia violates constantly the ceasefire regime in the frontline”. Mustafayeva noted that NATO’s support of settlement of this conflict would be effective.

Romanian ambassador to Azerbaijan Daniel Ciobanu spoke about the results of NATO Chicago Summit, including the decision on withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan till the end of 2014. But he noted that NATO would continue its assistances to this country in holding different trainings: “The Chicago Declaration confirmed for the next time the territorial integrity, sovereignty of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia and expressed NATO’s support of peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict”. The ambassador underlined that NATO Chicago Summit was widely illustrated in Azerbaijani mass media.

NATO Liaison Officer in South Caucasus William Lahue noted Azerbaijan’s contributions to peacemaking operations in Afghanistan and reminded that Azerbaijan has recently allocated 1 mln Euro for holding trainings in Afghanistan.

Member of Azerbaijani delegation in NATO Parliamentary Assembly, MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev said that our country chose the integration into NATO: “NATO announces that this conflict must be settled peacefully, but the Azerbaijani lands are under occupation and in practice Armenia uses force and nobody demands this country to stop it”.
