European Court of Human Rights releases annual report, 1692 applications from Azerbaijan

Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. President of the European Court of Human Rights Nicolas Bratza presented a summary of the Court’s activities and its statistics for 2011, APA reports.

According to the statistics, ECHR issued 9 judgments on Azerbaijan. Two judgments were related to the rights of freedom and security, 7 – right for fair judgment, 4 – right for protection of property, one – right for fair elections. The court concluded in some judgments that two or more right of the applicant were violated. This tendency is observed in general statistics of the judgments on Azerbaijan. There were 42 judgments related to Azerbaijan and 14 of them mentioned the violation of property rights, 13 – violation of rights for fair judgment.

523 applications were sent to the European Court from Azerbaijan. Approximately 350 applications were received from Azerbaijan every year in 2008-2010.

151624 issues are in proceedings of the European Court now. 1692 of them are from Azerbaijan. 26.5% issues (40225 applications) are from Russia, 10.5% (15940 applications) - from Turkey, 9.1% (13741 applications) – from Italy, 6.8% (10250) – from Ukraine.
