-Which are the significant moments of the meeting concerning development conception â€œAzerbaijan 2020: Vision of the Futureâ€ held under the chairmanship of head of the Presidential Administration, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev?

-On December 29, discussions were held concerning the new development strategy of Azerbaijan, exchange of views was held with the participation of various layers of society. Taking into account the importance of the conceptual document for the future of the Azerbaijani people, involvement of experts, scientists in its preparation is a task arising from the order signed by Mr. President. This is the display of the healthy relations between the state and citizens. Throughout the history, intellectuals fulfilling the function of enlightenment of the society have played a special role in the preparation of the basis of national development. Enjoying their knowledge and skills is of great importance in the development of innovative economy basing on new creative skills. It is not accidental that alongside with the government representatives, parliamentarians, heads of higher schools and scientific institutions, research centers attended the event. The views expressed during the discussions covered various aspects of human activity. This serves the enrichment and diversification of the development conception.

- How do you see the significance of this meeting?

- The significance of this meeting, which had character of dialogue, is not only in its variety, but in pluralism of different ideas and the colors given by them to the strategic action plan. In the context of absolute technocratic position, it is expedient that such concept is elaborated by the experts. But it can not take the developments of the society, problems of the citizens into consideration. But Azerbaijani leadership has completely different position. The goal is to take necessary steps and make changes, which condition the formation of new socio-economic relations on the back of permanent improvement of the life standards of the population. Therefore direct dialogue with the representatives of the public community and intellectuals creates conditions for describing the unsettling issues in the new development concept and determination of the ways of their solution at the expense of rational and optimal use of current resources. By issuing the order on elaboration of the new development concept, Mr. President promoted the elaboration of the necessary backgrounds of Azerbaijanâ€™s quality transformation.

The relations between the state and citizens are developing on the basis of mutual cooperation, on realization of the responsibility by each side, and enables to achieve targets in a short time and effectively. This is an example of useful and fair statehood policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev. We are committed to this political course and will develop it in the future at the expense of joint activity of various layers of the Azerbaijani society, including intellectuals and experts. We are planning to hold large meetings in 2012.
