The ambassador stressed the security, energy and domestic reforms as the most strategically interesting spheres of bilateral relations. â€œSeveral defense programs were implemented in the field of security. The process of creating Caspian security infrastructure has been intensified. The United States supported the establishment and strengthening of the Coast Guard within the cooperation with Azerbaijanâ€.

The ambassador said at least 5000 US planes use Azerbaijani air corridor every year to deliver cargo to Afghanistan. â€œAzerbaijan plays very important role in delivering cargo to Afghanistan, it brings commercial benefits to Azerbaijan at the same timeâ€.

Focusing attention on the importance of the presidentsâ€™ meeting in Kazan, the ambassador expressed hopes that the next meeting between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia will have positive effect on the settlement process. The ambassador specially emphasized the necessity of the solution to the conflict and inadmissibility of the status quo.
