WIN-Gallup International’s Global Barometer of Hope and Despair 2011 names Azerbaijan 8th among 51 developing countries

A. This index shows that the country’s population is hopeful of the future, believes in further increase of welfare of population and has optimistic view on the country’s development in 2012. Azerbaijan was among the countries achieving highest progress in the current year. The opinion research shows that the rate of despair in Europe and North America is higher than other countries. The results of research could be considered as most pessimist indexes in the world in the past 34 years.

The opinion poll was conducted among the 45 000 respondents in different countries this year. It is conducted by professionals among the large group of respondents objectively. Azerbaijan’s high results in this ranking prove that the population highly appreciates the reforms and policy pursued in the country.

Gallup International is one of the world’s leading opinion research groups. It was founded in 1947. Global Barometer of Hope and Despair report has been issued since 1977.
