Press service of the Ministry told APA that the statement reads: “The Republic of Azerbaijan strongly condemns French National Assembly’s adoption of draft law “Considering punishment for denial of existence of genocides recognized by lawâ€. Azerbaijan expresses its astonishment and declares that this unacceptable step doesn’t correspond with the principles of freedom of speech and expression which form the basis of democracy in Europe, and it is contrary to the obligation accepted by France in order to respect the democratic values such as human rights and main freedoms.
The Republic of Azerbaijan expresses sorrow that French National Assembly, which adopted such draft law, turns a blind eye to the ethnic cleansing against hundreds of Azerbaijanis in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, turning them into the internally displaced persons in their homeland and continuation of violation of their rightsâ€.
