Many errors occur when the politicians express position on the historical events from various interests”, said deputy speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova, APA reports. She said that the French Parliament and the persons working for adoption of law on criminalization of the denial of “Armenian genocide” must think of it: “This position is contrary to the freedom of speech, variety of thoughts and pluralism. In this case, some moments in France’s history must be similarly assessed by other countries. It can cause damage on relations between the countries and peoples. I consider that the people having logical judgment in France, correctly assessing the processes in the world as well as desiring for the relations between the countries and peoples based on the mutual confidence and respect, must express progress against it”.

Muradova said that the adoption of such laws calls the impartiality of France, which is the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, into question. She also noted that Azerbaijani and Turkish parliaments make efforts in order to prevent this issue: “I consider that these efforts must be continued. It is needed not to suspend the diplomatic relations, but prevent such issues”.
