EU Council authorizes European Commission to open negotiations for visa facilitation agreement with Azerbaijan

The decision was adopted at the Councilâ€™s meeting in Brussels on December 19, 2011, APA reports.

Once the Commission estimates that negotiations with the two countries will have been finalized, the Council will need to adopt decisions on signing and concluding the agreements by qualified majority and the European Parliament will need to give its consent.

Visa facilitation considers not canceling visa regime, but reducing visa fee and required documents, as well as easing visa issue for the students, sportsmen, journalists and businessmen.
