The settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict is complicated as time moves on”, outgoing OSCE Minsk Group co-chair Bernard Fassier said at the press conference in Baku, APA reports.

Fassier reminded that the Middle East conflict, which is continuing more than 60 years, hasn’t been settled so far. Fassier drew attention to the positive moments in the settlement process and said that the co-chairs have crossed the contact line of troops for five times in the past one and half year: “It is a progress. I see two positive points. First, it was possible to continue discussions as a result of efforts of the co-chairs and the war hasn’t occurred. Secondly, there are written framework principles in order to develop the draft settlement”.

The outgoing co-chair expressed sorrow for the losses in the contact line of troops: “We face criticism every time when a soldier or civil person dies. But if the ceasefire regime is observed, such incidents will not occur. I call the sides to observe this regime”.

Fassier said that the sides haven’t given consent to the proposed principles: “That’s why it is necessary to increase efforts for obtaining consent of both sides”.
