Chairman of France-Azerbaijan Friendship Group of National Assembly of France: â€œThere is a strong Armenian diaspora in France and it is wrong to hear only their position in the parliamentâ€

Of course, we have exchanged view on several issues during our visit to Azerbaijan. But during our meetings we see that Nagorno Karabakh conflict mainly concerns Azerbaijani communityâ€, Chairman of the France-Azerbaijan Friendship Group of the National Assembly of France, MP Jean-Louis Dumont told APA.

According to him, French parliament works on making its own contribution towards the peaceful settlement of the conflict: â€œWe hold talks in French parliament on this conflict. In my opinion, the main issue is to deliver correctly Azerbaijanâ€™s important role to our counterparts and French MPs. There is a strong Armenian diaspora in France and it is wrong to hear only their position in the parliament. We must also deliver position of Azerbaijani side to our counterparts and it would be better to create the information balance in this issue. Thatâ€™s why the hearings were held in French Senate on Nagorno Karabakh conflict on December 8 and a good condition was created for delivering Azerbaijanâ€™s position to French society, ambassadors, politicians, MPs, diplomats. That is, our participation in such events and our support to it are an indicator of existence of good friendly relations with Azerbaijan. We are working on making contribution to peaceful settlement of the conflict and will conduct work towards it. The date of the next meeting of our friendship group is unknown, but we often receive the politicians, countryâ€™s officials coming to Paris from Azerbaijan and hold discussions with themâ€.
