Baku hosts swearing-in ceremony of 44 volunteers of U.S. Peace Corps

APA reports that the volunteers will function during two years in various region of Azerbaijan in the spheres of teaching the English language, social development and other spheres.

In his speech, U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said that the volunteers are from the various regions and levels of the U.S.: “When these volunteers return to the US in two years, they will be Azerbaijan’s unofficial, because they will deeply learn Azerbaijani language, culture and history”.

Diplomat thanked Azerbaijani government for the cooperation in this sphere as well as the families who accepted the volunteers and noted that the Peace Corps’s activity in Azerbaijan would make contribution to the strengthening of relations between two countries.

Then in their speeches, Deputy Education Minister Gulu Novruzov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Intigam Babayev, Department chief of the Ministry of Economic Development Zahid Mammadov wished successes to the volunteers. The new volunteers will leave for the 24 regions and start work in education and development sphere.
