Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. The anti-Azerbaijan events held in Iran continue. APA reports quoting Iranian Mass Media the next conference from “Sharia prisoners” series was held on topic “Studying Islamism movement in the republic of Azerbaijan”.

In his speech, Director of “Aran” International Cultural and Research Institute Hasan Gulu made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. He sounded claims such as violation of human rights in Azerbaijan and religious intolerance especially the pursing of discrimination policy against Muslims: “The normal holding of commemoration events on Imam Husain’s death for the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which is the second largest Shiite country in the world, is not ensured normally. The Republic of Azerbaijan is a historical territory of Iran, which was occupied by force. Though these lands are called Aran, there are hostile anti-Iran and ant-Shiite trends in present Azerbaijan”.

Gulu said that the repressions against Muslims in Azerbaijan in 1937 reached its peak: “More than 300 000 Shiites, many religious figures were killed in the region. The closing of mosques, prohibition of events on Imam Husain were one of the acts of communist regime against Shi’ism. Unfortunately the struggle against the religion is continued in Azerbaijan also in the other form, Azerbaijan turned into the world’s most anti-Islamist country of the world after the depositions of dictators in Egypt and Tunisia. Despite it, this country is a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Destruction of mosques, prohibition on opening of religious libraries and prohibition on religious propaganda are the indicators of Baku’s Islamophobic policy”.

He called Iran to intervene in the domestic affairs of Azerbaijan: “The duty of the Iranian people is to support this country’s Shiites”.
