Matthew Bryza: â€œOpinion established in Azerbaijan on inefficient activity of the OSCE Minsk Group is an indicator of Azerbaijanâ€™s loyalty to peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflictâ€

The peace is possible, but the political atmosphere in the negotiations must be hotter, the contacts between the sides must be more intensive in order to achieve itâ€, US ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza told APA. Commenting on the severe criticism by Azerbaijani officials against the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group, Bryza said that the opinion on ineffective activity of the OSCE Minsk Group was an indicator of Azerbaijanâ€™s loyalty to the peace and peaceful settlement of the conflict. I know from my own experience that the Minsk Group conducts a great work that brought two sides almost to an agreement in peace treatyâ€.

The ambassador also touched on the possibility to achieve the peace treaty: â€œPersonally I believe that each side need accept the basic principle on the table. It is achievable. But the political climate needs to be warmer, the co-chairs must continue the contacts with the presidents. I hope that the presidents will hold next meeting in the nearest future. In a spirit of good faith each sides needs to understand what the other side requires to agree with a framework agreement. I know the co-chairs are working towards it for improvement of the psychological and political climate between the leaders. Now it is needed to strengthen the confidence measures. It is especially it is needed to investigate ceasefire violations incidentsâ€.
