APA’s correspondent reports from Vilnius that Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov represented Azerbaijan at the meeting. Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze, Moldova’s Foreign Minister Yury Lyanke, Ukraine’s ambassador to Lithuania Valery Zhovtenko and GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili attended the meeting.
GUAM’s Action Plan and budget for 2012 were discussed at the meeting. Azerbaijan took over GUAM’s chairmanship from Moldova. While discussing the issue on “Protracted conflicts in GUAM territory and their influence on the international peace, security and developmentâ€, which was included into the agenda of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, the participants exchanged views on the cooperation.
A decision was passed to hold the next meeting of the GUAM foreign ministers not later than February. The date of the meeting will be fixed through diplomatic channels.
