Member of Iranian Supreme Religious Assembly threatens Azerbaijan

APA reports quoting Iranian mass media that Ayetollahul-uzma Naser Mekarim Shirazi said the cases of Islamophobia increased in Azerbaijan, he warned the state officials.
â€œThe Azerbaijani officials should learn a lesson from the happenings in the region. The people of Azerbaijan are almost Shiite Muslims. But Azerbaijani government destroys mosques,â€ he said.

He said dissemination of Islamic booklets is banned in Azerbaijan, instructions were given not to allow schoolchildren and civil servants enter mosques.
â€œIt seems that Baku officials are sleeping in ignorance. Azerbaijani believers will not allow this to last,â€ he said.

Ayatollah said disobedience to the recommendations of imams and Prophet means disobedience to Allah.

Director of the Political Innovation and Technology Center Mubariz Ahmadoglu told APA that Shiraziâ€™s views are false and biased. He said Azerbaijan loves Islam and proved it with actions.
â€œThough the Azerbaijani people were mocked at during the period of tsarist Russia and Soviet Union, they preserved their language and religion. Not Islam, but persons serving the Persian nationalists trouble Azerbaijan. Islam in Iran serves Persian statehood. This was and will be rejected,â€ he said.

The political analyst said Iran must learn a lesson from the happenings in the region.
